Period Of Giving - Cambridge
29th November 2025
Girls across Nigeria miss school every month due to stigma, silence, and lack of access to period products. Our mission is to change that by tackling period poverty directly.
In collaboration with Cambridge FemTech Society and Black Girls’ Space, STS Cambridge held our festive-themed volunteer event, the ‘Period of Giving’ at the University of Cambridge. Our volunteers helped to sort and package packs of items to be donated to girls in Nigeria on the ‘Educate Lagos’ 2026 tour.
These items, including sanitary pads, stationary, lip balms and other toiletries, were donated by members of our Cambridge community. We also included hand-written motivational messages to personalise our gift to the girls.
We embodied the season of giving through festive music, decorations and snacks. Our attendees enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to our mission while meeting other members of the Cambridge community at this end-of-term social event at Christ's College, University of Cambridge.
This event has two objectives:
1) To create packs of items to deliver to girls on the Educate Lagos 2026 tour next spring (supporting the 'Educate' pillar)
2) To function as an end-of-term social for the Scrub The Stigma community and committee.
