Dr Danielle Adewusi

Dr Danielle Adewusi is a physician, advocate, and innovator, driven by a mission to transform women’s health. As a resident doctor and aspiring obstetrician & gynaecologist, Danielle recognises that women’s health is not just a medical issue — “it is the gateway to all social issues and injustices faced by women”.

In 2023, Danielle founded Scrub the Stigma to dismantle stigma, expand access to education and empower women with the knowledge, confidence and resources to advocate for themselves and their health. Recognising that financial barriers often prevent women from accessing essential care, she also established the Danielle Adewusi Women’s Health Fund to directly cover medical bills for patients at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo State, Nigeria. Through this initiative, Danielle provides a route for life-saving treatment for women and children who would otherwise go without care.

Danielle studied Medicine at King’s College London, earning her MBBS and a first-class BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and has published research in international scientific journals. Beyond medicine, she is a classically trained pianist and cellist, having studied at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music, and holds a diploma (DipABRSM) in piano. Her creativity extends into entrepreneurship with her own hair business, and into modelling and pageantry, where she placed in the top 5 of Miss Universe Great Britain.

With a strong social media presence, Danielle uses her platform to educate and inspire. She regularly speaks at events on women in STEM, FemTech, and women’s health advocacy, amplifying the importance of tackling health inequities.

Recognising that women’s health challenges are global — and that those in poverty are most often left behind — Danielle ensures her work spans both the UK and Nigeria, bridging gaps and addressing systemic inequalities. Driven by her medical expertise, creativity, and passion for advocacy, Danielle is working to create a world where women’s health is never an afterthought, but a cornerstone of equity and justice.
